ECSO Training on September 14-15, 2016

In light of all the problems across the country with the excessive use of force, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is striving to be proactive instead of reactive.  In reference to this matter, instructors from the Anti-Defamation League provided training for all ECSO employees on September 14-15, 2016.

The training was conducted in the auditorium of Jefferson Davis Community College in Brewton.  Over 100 law enforcement officers from Escambia and Baldwin Counties attended this training.

The training covered human diversity and cultural sensitivity, as well as the de-escalation of situations.  It is very easy to escalate a situation, so law enforcement should always strive to de-escalate a situation when the opportunity presents itself.  Both lectures and hands-on exercises were used in the training.

We would like to say thank you to the Wind Creek food truck for providing breakfast and lunch for both days of training.  We also thank David Jones, Dean of Students at Jefferson Davis Community College, and his faculty for allowing us to use their facilities for the training.
